There aren’t a lot of people outside of Sooner Nation who believe in the Oklahoma Sooners. For whatever reason, OU still has doubters despite four straight wins to close the season, including wins over three teams that were ranked in the top 25 at the time of the game.
Oklahoma doesn’t need anyone to believe in them; they have enough belief in themselves.
Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables said in the College Football Playoff teleconference, “I know a lot of teams were hoping they’d get matched up with Oklahoma, potentially, in the playoffs. Our focus, our energy, detail is to be able to play for a championship, no matter how crazy that might seem to everybody else. Our team believes we have everything we need to be able to do so.”
But there is a believer in the Sooners. SEC Network analyst Chris Doering. Doering has been high on the Sooners since the Summer and is still riding with Oklahoma as they enter the College Football Playoff.
After the College Football Playoff field was announced on Sunday, Doering, along with Ron Harper and Gene Chizik made their predictions for who’d make it into the national championship game. Doering has the Sooners advancing to play the Georgia Bulldogs for the national title.
“Well, we haven’t had an SEC team in the national championship game in two years now,” Doering said. “There’s some pent up demand there, so not only are we going to get one team, we’re going to get two. Georgia is going to beat the Oklahoma Sooners.”
Doering that he isn’t changing up. He’s been riding with the Sooners all year, and that’s not changing.

The Sooners have a defense that’s capable of playing with anyone in the country. They have an offense that’s proven explosive. And with their game-changing special teams, the Sooners have a team that’s going to be hard to beat.
With a couple of weeks to get healthy and iron out some things on offense, the Sooners will be a threat to make a run in the playoff.
