MIAMI — More than 2,400 tickets have been pre-sold for Vero Beach High School's state championship football game, according to Florida State High School Athletic Association executive director Craig Damon.

Damon provided the figure to the USA Today Florida Network at 7 p.m. on Dec. 12, approximately 24 hours before Vero Beach is set to kick off against Lake Mary for the Class 7A title at Pitbull Stadium.

The top selling game at this year's state championship is the Class 3A state championship game between Miami Northwestern and Raines on Dec. 12. That game, which is a rematch of last year's Class 3A championship, sold more than 7,600 tickets.

The pre-sale numbers for the Class 7A championship game are comparable to the Class 5A game between West Boca and West Broward on Dec. 12. The two South Florida teams had 2,640 tickets sold, including walk-up.

Vero Beach is attempting to win its first state championship game since 1981.
