Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees is seemingly a hot commodity at the college level, including with the Michigan Football program.

Rees, who is in his first season as the Cleveland offensive coordinator and second with the team, came from the college ranks. Before joining the Browns, he was the offensive coordinator at both Notre Dame and Alabama. He was also a finalist for the head coaching position at North Carolina a year ago, before that job got swept up into the Bill Belichick drama.

This year, Rees has already been linked to the UCLA job and the Penn State job. Both of those posts are now full, but now Michigan has interest in Cleveland’s play-caller. According to Cleveland dot com’s Mary Kay Cabot, the Wolverines have real interest in Rees after their recent firing of head coach Sherrone Moore.

Here is what Rees had to say on the perceived interest from college programs:

“I’m really focused on trying to play good offensive football, get a young quarterback ready to play, support our players… Look, some of those things are flattering and you listen as a competitor. But for me, my focus is really, how can we go score enough points to win a game? How can we put our young players, put our quarterback, put our offense in the right position to have success? How to lead our staff? That’s really where my focus is right now.”

The young quarterback he mentions is, of course, Shedeur Sanders. Fresh off winning the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Week award, Sanders now looks to lead the Browns to victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Rees and Sanders will need to both be dialed in to make this a reality.

Will Rees be with the Browns in 2026 or elsewhere?
