Former Oklahoma StateTE Josh Ford has signed with Alabama from out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. That comes per the latest reporting on Monday morning by On3’s Pete Nakos.

To be clear, the one-time, two-week window for the portal this year doesn’t officially open until January 2nd. However, Oklahoma State had a one-month window open for their roster back during the season at the end of September following the firing of Mike Gundy, which is when Ford entered with his name in deciding to leave the Cowboys back on October 8th.

In two years at his hometown program, Ford in a total of 16 games, playing in all dozen games last season and the first four this season before his entry, while at Oklahoma State. He, in those appearances, would finish with 13 receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns, including three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown as a sophomore this season before deciding to transfer, with the ‘Pokes.

Prior to that, Ford, a native of Stillwater, was a three-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle, as he was a Top-100 TE in the class and a Top-25 player out of the state of Oklahoma. That’s according to Rivals’ Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Now, Ford ranks as one of the better players to this point, and as one of the top tight ends, in the NCAA Transfer Portal. He currently sits at No. 190 overall and as the No. 9 TE per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2026’s Top Transfer Portal Players.

Ford, with that, is now one of just a few players to this point, and certainly so based on when he was able to enter his name, to commit from the transfer portal. He’s then the first to commit so far to Alabama, who has seen little portal news to this point anyway with their season still ongoing with an appearance starting on Friday in the College Football Playoff.

The Crimson Tide still have a campaign to finish in the CFP. Still, they’re already working on next season’s roster nonetheless, with their first transfer commitment coming this morning in the form of Ford.
