Colorado football is busy working on roster improvements this offseason, and according to a new report from Rivals' Adam Gorney, they are in hot pursuit of a specific four-star class of 2027 quarterback.

Gorney reported Wednesday morning (subscription required) that Deion Sanders and the Buffs have made the top 4 for Temecula, California, signal caller Dane Weber. Arizona State, Kansas and Cincinnati join Colorado as the top schools.

Weber told Gorney that his previous relationship with Colorado's new offensive coordinator, Brennan Marion, elevated Colorado on his radar.

"He wasn't even at Colorado yet to offer me, but he got the approval from Deion [Sanders], so that's how that worked," Weber said. "We've been talking for a while so that's how that relationship has worked there."

Clearly, Sanders and Marion have made a positive impression on Weber. He slots in perfectly as the de facto replacement for Julian Lewis, who would start the next two seasons before moving on to the NFL, paving the way for Weber to take over in 2028 as a redshirt freshman.

Colorado is taking a prudent approach to the quarterback position, ensuring a developed quarterback is ready if your starter moves on. Getting in early during a player's recruitment, such as Weber's, puts the Buffs in a strong position to secure a commitment.
