Memphis football plans to hire Old Dominion’s Kevin Decker as its new offensive coordinator, a source confirmed to The Commercial Appeal on Dec. 18.
The source spoke on the condition of anonymity because no official announcement has been made.
Decker has been Old Dominion’s offensive coordinator since 2023. Before that, he was offensive coordinator at Fordham and Brown. The Monarchs were No. 19 in the country in yards per game in 2025.
At Old Dominion, Decker worked closely with Monarchs quarterback Colton Joseph. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Joseph has announced he plans to enter the transfer portal and could be a target for Memphis. New Tigers coach Charles Huff said multiple times at his introductory press conference that he wanted a mobile quarterback, and Joseph rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2025.
Huff’s initial coaching staff at Memphis won’t be formally announced until after the Tigers face NC State in the Gasparila Bowl on Dec. 19 (1:30 p.m., ESPN), but it’s also expected to include Southern Miss defensive coordinator Jason Semore for the same role. Semore was with Huff at Marshall and went with him to Southern Miss.
Huff was hired to replace Ryan Silverfield, who was hired by Arkansas.
Reggie Howard will be Memphis’ interim coach for the bowl game.
