Auburn football kicker has announced his intention of entering the transfer portal after just two seasons with the Tigers.

Towns McGough released a post on his X account Thursday afternoon showing his plans to enter the transfer portal.

McGough served as the starting placekicker for Auburn in 2024 as a freshman while Alex McPherson was healing from an illness. He struggled to find a groove kicking going 5-for-12 on the season, and was later replaced by Ian Vachon.

McGough would only play two games in 2025 before redshirting. The sophomore began the season as the main kickoff specialist and was used for long-range field goals. Those roles were taken over by Connor Gibbs. He signed with Auburn as a three-star rated kicker by 247Sports, and was the No. 4 kicker from the 2024 class from nearby Auburn High School.

The transfer portal officially opens Jan. 2. Auburn now has seen a total of 17 players to announce their plans to enter the portal. Several notable names to enter the transfer portal from Auburn include quarterback Jackson Arnold, running back Damari Alston, and defensive tackle Malik Blocton.
