A new betting favorite has emerged for Michigan Football’s next HC

It’s been more than two weeks since the firing of Sherrone Moore, and a lot has changed in Michigan’ search for its new head football coach since then. Kalen DeBoer and Kenny Dillingham were the top guys at the beginning of the search, but both those guys are now seemingly out with Alabama winning its first-round game in the College Football Playoff last Friday and Dillingham signing a new deal with Arizona State last Saturday.

A lot of the recent reports have been focused on Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm, and that is now being reflected in the Vegas betting odds.

According to BetOnline, the new betting favorite to be the next head coach of the Wolverines is Brohm (+150). Michigan interim head coach Biff Poggi (+300) and former Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham (+300) are right on Brohm’s heels, as is Washington head coach Jedd Fisch (+500) despite there being no buzz for him lately. Interestingly enough, DeBoer is still listed here with +900 odds.

The last time we checked on these betting odds, Dillingham was the favorite with -150 odds, while Brohm was a major long shot with +3,300 odds. Poggi was also a long shot with +2,000 odds, but has made a major move up the list on BetOnline.

As is the case with any head coaching search, things are changing by the moment. What’s true today may not be true tomorrow, and that is most certainly the case here. While nobody truly knows who Michigan’s next head football coach will be until we get official word from the athletic department, there is no denying that Brohm’s name is picking up steam here and is the one to watch as we head into the Christmas holiday.
