Big news for Alabama football: one of the Crimson Tide’s top 2025 commits is officially off the market.
Four-star tight end Mack Sutter, a 6-foot-6, 235-pound standout from Dunlap, Illinois, announced that he’s completely shutting down his recruitment, reaffirming his commitment to the Tide.
“Always been the Tide,” Sutter said. “I’m lockeddd.”

Sutter’s statement comes after weeks of growing speculation and concern that Ohio State was making a late push to flip the elite prospect and snatch him from the Crimson Tide.
The Buckeyes had prioritized Sutter in recent months, hoping to lure him closer to home. But head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama staff never wavered, and ultimately kept one of their top offensive targets locked in.
In fact, Alabama’s confidence in Sutter never seemed to fade. A telling moment came in October, when Sutter passed up the chance to watch Ohio State face Illinois in his home state. Instead, he and his father made the trip south to watch Alabama’s road matchup against Missouri, a sign that Alabama fans hoped made clear of where his heart truly was.
Sutter, ranked as the No. 1 player in Illinois and a Top 100 national recruit according to the 247Sports Composite, committed to Alabama back in June.
Since then, he’s built strong relationships with the Tide coaching staff and fellow members of Alabama’s 2025 class, a group that’s shaping up to be one of the best in the nation.
With Sutter now fully locked in, Alabama’s class continues to build momentum. The Tide currently hold 10 Top-100 commitments and is currently ranked No. 3 nationally, giving DeBoer and his staff one of the most balanced and talented groups in the country.
For Alabama, Sutter’s decision represents more than just another big-time commit staying true to the Tide.
It’s a statement.
It shows that the Alabama Crimson Tide can go head-to-head with recruiting powerhouses like Ohio State and come out on top, even after Nick Saban retired.
And for Sutter, it’s simple: he’s found his home in Tuscaloosa.
Roll Tide!
