Wide receiver Chase Sowell has spent time on three different college campuses during his career, including the past season at Iowa State. He’ll now finish his career with former coach Matt Campbell at Penn State. The Cyclones’ leader in receptions in 2025 will now be part of a new-look passing attack at Penn State.
Sowell led Iowa State with 32 catches and had 500 yards (second on team) and will be reunited with not only Campbell, but also offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser and wide receivers coach Noah Pauley.
The redshirt senior is well traveled. He initially committed to Colorado out of high school and spent a pre-Prime year with the Buffaloes before moving to East Carolina for two seasons. He was second-team All-AAC in 2024 for the Pirates and had 1,300 receiving yards in his two seasons there.
Sowell played his prep football in Texas and brings the size (6’2, 210 pounds) that Mouser’s offense seems to favor at the wide out positions.
Penn State will be fully restocking its wide receiver room for a second-straight season. Last year, Trebor Pena, Kyron Hudson, and Devonte Ross all entered via the portal and started most of the season.
