Michigan Receive Transfer Portal News on QB Bryce Underwood

The Michigan Wolverines have dominated the college football headlines over the past few weeks, and not for any reason they would have liked.

Now-former head coach Sherrone Moore was fired on Dec. 10 after it was revealed he had an inappropriate relationship with a staffer. While the hiring process was a roller coaster, the Wolverines were able to bring in legendary former Utah coach, Kyle Whittingham.

Although Whittingham accumulated 177 wins during his time in Salt Lake City, many fans and analysts around the country were unsure whether the program’s five-star freshman quarterback, Bryce Underwood, would remain with the program. After all, he pledged to play in Moore’s offense and now that of the new offensive coordinator, Jason Beck.

With Underwood and his future with the program in question, his future plans were revealed on Monday.

As confirmed by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Underwood will remain a Wolverine despite the coaching change.

“Michigan star QB Bryce Underwood plans to remain with the program under new head coach Kyle Whittingham, sources tell @CBSSports,” wrote Zenitz.

While Whittingham is one of the most well-respected coaches in the country, it likely doesn’t hurt that Underwood inked a historic million NIL deal that is in the ballpark of $12 million.

Underwood showed plenty of flashes in his freshman season, but his stats don’t jump off the page. He threw for 2,428 yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. With that being said, Beck’s offense at Utah ranked No. 4 in yards per game (480) with a quarterback in Devon Dampier who is not viewed as being an elite passer.

With Underwood and his elite weapons around him, the sky is the limit for Michigan in 2026.
