Colorado vs West Virginia Prediction: The Big 12’s Most Interesting Game

Oklahoma State is the Big 12’s worst team, but Colorado and West Virginia are in the mix to be the 15th-best team.

The Mountaineers, though, have been far better, pushing TCU a few weeks ago before screwing up Houston’s season with a stunning 45-35 win.

This might be the end of the fun, though, with at Arizona State and Texas Tech to close, but the arrow is pointing up.

And then there’s Colorado.

After stunning Iowa State in mid-October, the wheels have come flying off the bus, losing to Utah and Arizona by a combined score of 105-24. With Kansas State and at Kansas State to close, this could get ugly without a win here.

Why Colorado Will Win

Alright, let’s see what you’ve got, Julian Lewis.

Colorado desperately needs a spark. It needs something to get everyone excited for 2026, because this has turned into a humiliating disaster of a campaign.

Lewis was the big quarterback recruit for Deion Sanders, and he’s been able to get a little bit of time, but now he gets to step in and let it rip.

West Virginia might be having a few nice moments, but the pass defense isn’t stopping anything. If you’re not throwing for 300 yards against this bunch, it’s because you’re running for 200. Give Lewis time, and let’s see what he can do, but …

Why West Virginia Will Win

Colorado doesn’t have the lines.

It takes a while to build up the infrastructure, and at the moment, it’s not there. The running game hasn’t been able to do much of anything in the Big 12, and the problem for this, the run defense is being run on at will.

Utah ran for 422 yards because it didn’t feel like running for 500. Arizona and Iowa State ripped off yards in chunks, and on the year, the Buffaloes have allowed 200 yards or more six times.

West Virginia might be wildly inconsistent – it’s rebuilding – but it threw for over 300 yards against TCU, ran for 246 against Houston last week, and …

Colorado vs West Virginia Prediction, Betting Lines

Normally, this would be the week when West Virginia comes back down to earth after the wonderful performance at Houston, but Colorado has become totally inept.

The Utah game was horrendous, the big response against Arizona wasn’t there, and even though Lewis is a talent who’ll get plenty of room to make mistakes, it won’t be enough.

The Colorado defense won’t stop the Mountaineer running game even a little bit.
