Indiana opens as favorite over Miami in CFP National Championship Game

Indiana football, the one-time losingest program in the history of college football, is in the national championship game and favored to win it.

The No. 1-seed Hoosiers opened up as a 7.5-point favorite over No. 10-seed Miami with an over/under of 48.5 points in the College Football Playoff National Championship, per FanDuel Sportsbook. Its the third consecutive playoff game in which Indiana has been the favorite. The last time the Hoosiers were the underdog was the Big Ten Football Championship game, which they ended up winning 13-10 over eventual No. 2-seed Ohio State.

It may be surprising to see Indiana as just a touchdown favorite after the way the Hoosiers dominated both No. 9-seed Alabama and No. 5-seed Oregon, but Miami has a remarkably strong defense led by coordinator Corey Hetherman. He’s one of the top defensive minds in the country and previously worked in the same role under Curt Cignetti at James Madison, being Bryant Haines’ predecessor.

It’s gonna be a defensive battle between Hetherman and Haines.
