Former Oklahoma wide receiver KJ Daniels is off to Alabama.
Initially a three-star recruit out of Louisiana, Daniels spent just a single season with the season Sooners. He did not record a catch in 2025 and will transfer to Alabama-Birmingham.
The 5-foot-9, 165-pounder, appeared small for a Southeastern Conference player and did not quite make his way up the OU depth chart. He should have an easier time in the American Conference, where UAB finished the season with a 4-8 record under coaches Trent Dilfer and Alex Mortensen. Mortensen took over midway through the season after Dilfer was relieved of his duties.
Daniels is one of six Oklahoma wide receivers who entered the transfer portal following the season, a season in which Oklahoma made the College Football Playoff for the first time since it’s expansion from four teams. The only wideout who recorded more than two catches among that group, however, was Javonnie Gison, who made 19 grabs for 199 yards and a touchdown.
Still, Oklahoma is set to return seven of its top nine receivers from last season’s depth chart, led by All-SEC pick Isaiah Sategna. Sategna led the Sooners with 67 catches for 965 yards and eight touchdowns in his first season in Norman after transferring from Arkansas.
Despite the loss, Oklahoma still ended Saturday in plus territory as high-schoolers Taven Epps and Deven Robertson committed for the Class of 2027.
