Nebraska received a commitment from Pittsburgh Panthers transfer defensive lineman Jashear Whittington. The announcement was made per multiple media reports.
Whittington recorded 11 tackles, a sack, 3.5 tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry in 11 games played. He made his first start in The Military Bowl against East Carolina and recorded two tackles and a tackle for loss.
This marks the second defensive line commitment in a day, as Andy Burburija committed to the program on Sunday. It has been a busy 48 hours, with Burburija committing, and Corey Brown being named defensive line coach.
This is a move with significant potential for the Huskers. Whittington showed flashes of promise with the Panthers, and now he will have an opportunity to develop in Lincoln. This is another big pickup for a defensive line that needs athleticism and depth.
