Opening Odds: All eyes on Oxford for Lane Kiffin’s return
BATON ROUGE, LA – SEPTEMBER 12: Lane Kiffin head coach of the LSU Tigers celebrates with Deuce Geralds #99 on the sideline following a turnover during the second half of a game against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on September 12, 2026, at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It’s nice to not be the center of attention right?

Even with Texas and Ohio State at the center of the college football world this past week, there was still quite a bit of attention on Mizzou and their Border War trip to Lawrence. All that extra attention seemed to weigh on the Tigers’ shoulders in the first half, but they quickly recovered to trounce kansas and bang the drum all over midfield.

This week, Mizzou has a bit of a breather, though I’m sure Eli Drinkwitz won’t let his players feel that. Troy comes to town for a game that’s not even being acknowledged by FanDuel’s oddsmakers because of how favored the Tigers are likely to be… though by that logic it feels odd that Kennesaw State and UTSA get odds against Tennessee and Texas, respectively.

Still, it should be nice to get another tune up game against a Division I opponent. Meanwhile, the eyes of the college football world turn toward Oxford and Lane Kiffin’s return to Ole Miss. Kiffin has made himself the center of attention for the better part of the last calendar year, and you know the Rebels and their fans would love to show up their old coach. Meanwhile, LSU faces what should be its first real test of the season after flattening the corpse of Dabo Swinney’s Clemson program and a slightly more formidable foe in Louisiana Tech. The atmosphere is going to be charged, and oddsmakers see it as a toss-up – even if LSU opens as a slight favorite. Should be quite a watch for neutrals!
