The Alabama Sports Writers Association held its annual awards banquet this week in Montgomery, and a pair of 2026 Auburn football signees walked away with hardware.

Shadarius Toodle and Jaquez Wilkes each earned "Player of the Year" honors in their respective classification after producing stellar stats during their senior seasons. Toodle was named the AHSAA Class 3A Lineman of the Year, while Wilkes was awarded the AHSAA Class 1A Back of the Year. Wilkes was also included in the ASWA Super All-State Team alongside South Carolina quarterback signee Landon Duckworth and Alabama WR signee Cederian Morgan.

He played on both sides of the ball at Wadley High School, but is expected to join Auburn's roster as an EDGE rusher. Toodle is behind Wilkes with a rating of 0.9129. He was the No. 13 overall recruit from Alabama and the No. 13 linebacker in the nation.

Alabama running back signee EJ Crowell won the 2025 ASWA Mr. Football award after rushing for 2,632 yards and 35 touchdowns at Jackson High School during the 2025 season. Crowell also won the 2025 Gatorade Player of the Year award in Alabama.
