Adam Bradford's College Football Playoff quarterfinals picks

Earlier this month, I picked each first round game of the College Football Playoff. It did not go particularly well for me.

Can I do better in the quarterfinals? Here are my picks for the New Year’s slate of playoff games:

(2) Ohio State over (10) Miami (Cotton Bowl)

Miami is having its best season in 23 years. But Ohio State is simply too good for the Hurricanes to overcome.

(5) Oregon over (4) Texas Tech (Orange Bowl)

With Miami and Texas Tech both losing, we get a semifinals consisting solely of SEC and Big Ten teams—yet another sign that those two conferences are a clear tier above the rest.

(1) Indiana over (9) Alabama (Rose Bowl)

Indiana beats Alabama in the Rose Bowl, and it isn’t considered an upset. Imagine telling that to someone from pretty much any other year in college football history.

(3) Georgia over (6) Ole Miss (Sugar Bowl)

Ole Miss lost to Georgia earlier this season with Lane Kiffin. The Rebels suffer the same fate without him

Semifinal matchups

Based on my above predictions, we would get the following matchups in the semifinals:

-Fiesta Bowl: (3) Georgia vs. (2) Ohio State

-Peach Bowl: (5) Oregon vs. (1) Indiana
