Alabama’s quest for its first SEC championship under head coach Kalen DeBoer just got harder. The Crimson Tide will take the field inside Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium without two offensive contributors who have played meaningful roles throughout the season.
Tight end Josh Cuevas and running back Jam Miller have officially been ruled out for Saturday’s showdown against No. 3 Georgia, a loss that stings for an Alabama team looking for every bit of firepower it can muster.

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. CT on ABC, and while Alabama enters with confidence after winning 10 of its last 11 games, Friday’s availability report created a noticeable wave of concern.
Cuevas, Miller, guard Kam Dewberry and tight end Danny Lewis Jr. were all listed as questionable, with the Tide scheduled to release final designations of out, available, or game-time decision by 1:30 p.m. CT.
Now, two of those names are officially unavailable, and they’re big ones.
Miller’s absence is especially significant. The sophomore running back has been one of Alabama’s most dynamic offensive pieces, giving DeBoer and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb a spark with his blend of balance, vision, and breakaway speed.
His ability to flip field position or turn a simple run into a momentum-shifting gain has been invaluable, particularly in tight games. Against a Georgia defense known for suffocating the run, losing a versatile back like Miller is unquestionably a blow.
Cuevas, too, has carved out an important role, emerging as a reliable pass-catching tight end who brings both physicality and athleticism to the position.
His chemistry with quarterback Ty Simpson has continued to grow, and his absence removes a trusted red-zone option and a matchup problem Alabama hoped to exploit against the Bulldogs.
Make no mistake, losing both Miller and Cuevas is a bummer for Alabama. In a game of this magnitude, depth matters, and the Tide’s skill positions just took a measurable hit.
Still, this team has adapted all season.
DeBoer has preached resilience, next-man-up mentality, and belief in the system.
Saturday will test every bit of that.
With a conference title, and potentially a playoff run on the line, Alabama will have to dig even deeper.
