An Alabama football assistant coach is on the move.

Nick Sheridan, the Crimson Tide’s co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, is expected to join the Michigan State staff as offensive coordinator, per multiple reports.

Sheridan was originally hired as Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2024, where he led the Crimson Tide to the No. 3 scoring offense and the No. 7 total offense in the SEC with 33.77 points and 410.23 yards per game

Sheridan was demoted in 2025 when Alabama hired Ryan Grubb as offensive coordinator. Sheridan, as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, helped lead the Crimson Tide to the No. 4 pass offense in the SEC.

Sheridan also played an integral role in the recruitment of five star quarterback Keelon Russell along with Alabama’s two 2026 quarterbacks: Jett Thomalla and Tayden Kaawa

Alabama also has to fill its wide receiver coach slot with JaMarcus Shephard taking the Oregon State head coaching job. The Tuscaloosa News confirmed that the Crimson Tide is expected to hire Auburn offensive coordinator and running backs coach Derrick Nix to DeBoer’s staff.

Alabama will play Indiana in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the 2026 Rose Bowl Thursday, Jan. 1.
