Could the 2026 season end up being a special one for Alabama football? Zabien Brown certainly thinks so.
On Wednesday, the Alabama cornerback joined SEC Now as part of 2026 SEC media days, and in doing so, shared a few thoughts on the Crimson Tide's team ahead of the season. During this, Brown was asked on if he got the sense that this 2026 Alabama team could be a special group, with the junior stating his answer, as well as why.
"I think yes, this is the best group I've had since we've been here for sure. I'm really excited," Brown said. "From the inside, there is a certain level of connection and trust that keeps enhancing. The way we know each others' jobs, that's a big part as well, knowing that ok, he knows when I see this, this is what I'm doing, so it can affect how he does this. Being able to talk to my safeties, talk to Red (Morgan) in the nickel, it's a strength. I think it's just adding on. Being the third year under our coaching staff, under DeBoer and Wommack, I feel like that's naturally how things happen and build up."
Brown enters his third season at Alabama cemented as one of the Crimson Tide's starters at cornerback, a position he has held each of the last two years. The junior is among Alabama's five returning starters in the secondary from last season, joined by Dijon Lee Jr., Bray Hubbard, Keon Sabb, and Red Morgan.
Alabama is coming off a 2025 season which saw the Crimson Tide finish 11-4 overall (7-1 SEC), reaching the CFP quarterfinals where they fell to eventual national champion Indiana. This will be Alabama's third season under head coach Kalen DeBoer, with the Crimson Tide sporting a combined 20-8 overall (12-4 SEC) record over the first two years.
The Crimson Tide are set to open the 2026 season inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 5 against East Carolina.
