Alabama Could Be Without Important Offensive Weapon in Georgia Bulldogs Showdown

The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into their biggest game of the season this weekend against the Alabama Crimson Tide, and while the weather threat is real, it does seem like it will hold off enough for the game to be played in Tuscaloosa and on time.
In both respective locker rooms, the focus is not on the things you cannot control but rather ones you can. And though it's not something controllable, it sounds like the Dawgs could be on the receiving end of some news that would give them a better chance to leave Bryant-Denny Stadium with a victory for the first time since 2007.
According to an injury update on Wednesday, Alabama tight end Josh Ford — who has been a huge part of the resurgence of the Tide running game — broke his forearm in their victory over Mississippi State last week. Head coach Kalen DeBoer told media Ford had surgery on Sunday and is actually pushing to get back on the field as soon as this week, and as insane as this sounds, it does seem like that's a possibility.
Even if so though, Ford would no doubt be limited, and this would be great news for the Bulldogs.
Georgia Could Limit Alabama Rushing Attack if Ford is Out
While Alabama's offensive line deserves some credit for being able to turn things around so far this year on the ground, it's been the tight ends led by Ford who have really made the big difference.
The Tide get as creative with tight ends as anyone in the country, and while there are reinforcements if Ford is out or even limited, he has set the tone for that offense so far this season.
If the Dawgs are indeed going to get it done and defeat Alabama in their own building, any advantage is welcome. With Nate Frazier likely set to return for Georgia, the injury report is certainly trending to favor the Bulldogs right now here a few days out from the game.
It's worth watching closely over the coming days, because if Ford is indeed out, it changes the way Alabama wants to play offense this week. And if the Dawgs can get the Tide away from what it is they want to do on either side of the ball, this only helps their chances of setting the tone and leaving Tuscaloosa with a huge victory.
