The University of Alabama is getting closer to one of its top wide receiver targets.
Four-star wide receiver Osani Gayles is regarded as one of the top pass catchers in the 2027 class and ranks No. 52 nationally.
Over the past two days, Gayles announced that he had cancelled his visits to both the University of Tennessee and Notre Dame.
Tennessee and Notre Dame were both believed to be among his top contenders, but after trimming his list, Gayles is now down to Alabama, Stanford and Washington.
With his finalists set, Gayles said a commitment could come within days.
“I definitely should have a decision by the end of the weekend,” Gayles told Rivals. “I’ve got all the information I kind of need. I’m just trying to make a decision. I plan to think more about it this weekend and really decide where I want to go. Then I will announce it later this month.”
Alabama's momentum became even more apparent when a top recruiting insider logged a prediction in the Crimson Tide's favor.
On3’s Andrew Bone who exclusively covers Alabama sports predicted that Gayles was Alabama bound, with a 70% confidence score.

Gayles has been recruited heavily by some of his fellow ‘27 classmates. Alabama commits (and top quarterback of the class) Elijah Haven and Trent Seaborn have been pressing hard on bringing both Gayles and five-star receiver Monshun Sales to Tuscaloosa.
Earlier this month, Haven and Seaborn were present at the Elite 11 camp, where the top high school quarterbacks in the nation assembled, and Haven made it evident that he wanted Gayles.
“[There are] some guys on the OV (official visit) right now, Monshun Sales, as we call him ‘Bama’ up there, a wide receiver. Also Osani Gayles, who’s another top wide receiver in the class. But definitely trying to rally them up, with the motto being ‘Bama is the place to be.’”
Gayles has already expressed an affinity for the university, citing it as one of the top programs to develop wide receivers.
“The culture and how much of a winning program [Alabama is],” Gayles said. “They’ve shown they can produce receivers. They’re up there as ‘Receiver U’ for sure.”
If Gayles chooses Alabama, he would become the Crimson Tide's first wide receiver commitment in the 2027 class, a smaller group that head coach Kalen DeBoer has indicated won't be a massive haul.
Momentum seems to be swinging in the Crimson Tide’s favor, but the race isn’t over.
