Kalen DeBoer and Alabama continue to build serious momentum on the recruiting trail.
Just three days after landing one of the nation's top 2028 quarterbacks in Kingston Preyear, the Crimson Tide added another major piece to what is quickly becoming the country's top recruiting class. Four-star offensive lineman Anthony Blalock Jr. announced his commitment to Alabama on Monday, giving the Tide another blue-chip prospect and another recruiting win over some of college football's biggest programs.
For Alabama fans, this commitment should turn plenty of heads.
Blalock, a 6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive lineman from Youngstown, Ohio, chose the Crimson Tide over an impressive list of offers that included Ohio State, Penn State, North Carolina, Texas Tech and several other Power Four programs. Winning a recruiting battle for one of Ohio's top prospects is never easy, especially when Ohio State is involved, making this commitment even more significant for DeBoer and his staff.
The four-star prospect announced his decision Monday morning with a simple message on social media.
"I'm home."

Those two words have become a familiar sight for Alabama fans over the last several recruiting cycles, and Monday's announcement was another reminder that the Crimson Tide continues to recruit at an elite level under DeBoer.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Blalock is the No. 12 interior offensive lineman in the 2028 recruiting class and the No. 204 overall player nationally. While there's still plenty of football left before signing day arrives, his combination of size, strength and upside has already made him one of the more sought-after offensive linemen in the country.
Blalock currently plays at The Finch School in Youngstown, Ohio, and his recruitment took off this offseason. Alabama officially offered him in June, and less than a month later, the Tide had secured his commitment. At the time of his decision, Blalock held 24 Division I scholarship offers, highlighting just how coveted he had become nationally.
His commitment also continues an impressive stretch for Alabama's 2028 recruiting class.
On Friday, Alabama landed four-star quarterback Kingston Preyear, one of the nation's premier signal-callers and one of the top players in the state of Alabama. Just days later, the Tide followed it up with another blue-chip addition in Blalock, giving the coaching staff momentum on both sides of the ball as they continue building for the future.
With Blalock now on board, Alabama has six commitments in its 2028 class, and the early returns are impressive.
Bama lands a massive 2028 OL Commit!
Went into depth over on YouTube yesterday regarding Anthony Blalock Jr.
Have posted similar before, but really like this kid’s mindset, he’s a finisher for sure.
Plays a lot of tackle, but really like him on the inside at the next level.… pic.twitter.com/j7oqtPj6nr

According to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings, the Crimson Tide currently owns the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation, sitting ahead of both Ohio State and Georgia. While rankings in July of a 2028 class should always be taken with perspective, there's no denying the caliber of talent Alabama is assembling.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway isn't simply the rankings, it's where these commitments are coming from.
DeBoer and his staff are proving they can recruit nationally.
Landing an elite offensive lineman out of Ohio over Ohio State speaks volumes. Pair that with keeping top in-state talent like Preyear home, and Alabama is showing the balanced recruiting approach fans hoped to see under this coaching staff.
Recruiting elite quarterbacks is important, but championships are still won in the trenches. Adding a player with Blalock's size and physical tools gives Alabama another potential cornerstone along the offensive line in the years ahead.
There's still a long way to go before the 2028 class is finalized, and plenty can change over the next couple of years. But one thing has become increasingly clear: concerns about Alabama's recruiting under DeBoer continue to look more and more misplaced.
The Crimson Tide isn't just landing talented players, they're winning head-to-head battles against some of the biggest brands in college football.
Monday's commitment is another example of that.
For Alabama, the momentum continues.
And if the last few days are any indication, the Tide may not be finished adding elite talent anytime soon.
Roll Tide.
