Alabama football loses commitment from 2026 4-star offensive lineman

With the start of the early signing period nearing, Alabama football has lost a member of its 2026 recruiting class.
Sam Utu, a 2026 four-star offensive lineman out of Little Saigon, California, told Rivals he was ending his commitment to the Crimson Tide. He had been committed to Alabama since June 9.
Utu is the fifth player to leave Alabama’s 2026 recruiting class, joining defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland, cornerback Dorian Barney, offensive lineman Zykie Helton and safety Jamarion Gordon.
Utu is the No. 255 player in the 2026 class per 247Sports’ composite rankings. He is ranked as the No. 18 interior offensive lineman in the country.
Alabama has three offensive linemen committed in its 2026 class: Georgia four-star guard Chris Booker, Georgia four-star tackle Jared Doughty and Georgia three-star tackle Bear Fretwell.
The Crimson Tide has 22 commits in the 2026 recruiting class.
The early signing period starts Wednesday, Dec. 3.
