Springfield football standout Jermaine Cobbins continues to grow an impressive offer sheet following his sophomore season.

The latest program to offer Cobbins is Alabama and coach Kalen DeBoer, with Cobbins announcing an offer from the Crimson Tide via X on Jan. 21.

Cobbins, a four-star cornerback, is the state’s No. 1-ranked recruit in the Class of 2028 and the No. 35 overall recruit in the nation in the 247Sports Composite. Along with Alabama, Cobbins has received offers from Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Ohio State, Indiana and more.

Cobbins made a visit to Alabama on Oct. 4 for the Crimson Tide’s win over Vanderbilt and previously had visited Knoxville for Tennessee’s overtime loss to Georgia on Sept. 13. He’s also made visits to Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Auburn and Penn State.

Cobbins was a two-way star with the Yellow Jackets this season, as Springfield made a 12th consecutive TSSAA football playoffs appearance before falling to South Gibson in overtime in the state quarterfinals. At defensive back Cobbins recorded 41 tackles, one tackle for loss, a 100-yard interception return for TD, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble. On offense he added 1,186 all-purpose yards and 12 TDs.

Cobbins was named to The Tennessean’s All-Midstate Large Class first team while also featuring on the TSWA and Tennessee Football Coaches Association’s All-State teams.

He is the younger brother of former Springfield stars CJ Cobbins, a redshirt freshman at UT-Martin, and Cameron, who led the team in receiving in 2024.
