Alabama football is in the hunt for another offensive line coach.

Chris Kapilovic, who spent the first two seasons of the Kalen DeBoer era as the Crimson Tide’s offensive line coach, is leaving the program, a source confirmed to The Tuscaloosa News.

A picture surfaced the morning of Friday, Jan. 23 of Kapilovic at Central-Phenix City High School with head coach Cody Flournoy.

After stops with programs such as North Carolina, Colorado and Michigan State, Kapilovic joined the Crimson Tide as a part of DeBoer’s first staff. He inherited a unit that allowed 49 sacks in 2023, a number that was cut down to 24 in 2024 with players such as All-American guard Tyler Booker, All-American center Parker Brailsford and SEC all-conference tackle Kadyn Proctor.

Alabama had its share of struggles in 2025. The Crimson Tide allowed 32 sacks in 15 games, fourth worst in the SEC. And Alabama had one of the worst run games in program history, averaging 104.13 rushing yards per game and 3.35 yards per rush.

The end of the 2025 season brought a mass exodus in the offensive line room. Proctor, Brailsford and the combination of Jaeden Roberts, Geno VanDeMark and Kam Dewberry each departed the program to pursue the NFL, while WIlkin Formby entered the NCAA transfer portal and moved to Texas A&M.

Heading into 2025, Alabama had one returning starter on the offensive line: Michael Carroll, who was a freshman All-American.

Alabama did rebuild much of its offensive line via the transfer portal, adding former Mississippi State tackle Jayvin James, former Ole Miss guard Ethan Fields, former Texas lineman Nick Brooks, former Cal Poly center Racin Delgatty and former Michigan linemen Kaden Strayhorn and Ty Haywood.

Alabama also secured five commitments in the 2026 class including Mississippi four-star Bryson Cooley and Georgia four-star Chris Booker.
