Alabama football to name Bryan Ellis QB coach, replacing Nick Sheridan | Reports

Alabama football is making an internal move to replace Nick Sheridan.

With Sheridan, Alabama‘s co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2025, being named offensive coordinator at Michigan State, the Crimson Tide is planning to make Bryan Ellisquarterbacks coach in 2026, per multiple reports.

Ellis has worked the past two seasons as head coach Kalen DeBoer’s tight ends coach.

A former UAB quarterback from 2007-11, Ellis was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Western Kentucky in 2019 and 2020 after a stint as USC’s quarterback coach for Clay Helton in 2018.

Ellis was Western Kentucky’s co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach in 2021 before he was hired as Georgia Southern’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2022-23.

As a UAB quarterback, Ellis had 3,697 yards passing, 27 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He averaged 267.3 yards passing per game as a starter in 2010.

Ellis inherits a room that currently has four scholarship quarterbacks in Austin Mack, Keelon Russell, Tayden Kaawa and Jett Thomalla.
