The Alabama Crimson Tide are 8-1 this season and have a pivotal game on Saturday against the Oklahoma Sooners.
It’s a battle between two top-15-ranked teams and has not only SEC Championship Game implications but also College Football Playoff (CFP) implications.
Alabama is currently in the driver’s seat in the SEC, and as long as it wins out, it clinches a spot in the title game. Oklahoma has been eliminated from playing in the SEC title game but has its sights still set on the CFP.
A big reason for Alabama’s success so far this season has been quarterback Ty Simpson. Simpson has thrown for 2,461 yards, 21 touchdowns and one interception.
On Wednesday, Walter Camp announced its semifinalist watch list for the Player of the Year.
Simpson was named alongside other players such as Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, Miami’s Ruben Bain Jr., Texas A&M’s Marcel Reed, Georgia’s Gunner Stockton, Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith and Julian Sayin, Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss and Oregon’s Dante Moore.
The list doesn’t stop there, but after the news was released, the Crimson Tide reacted to it on social media.
“Walter Camp POTY Semifinalist! 💪,” Alabama said.

Simpson is a redshirt junior and in his first season as the Alabama starting quarterback.
He waited his turn patiently behind Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe.
Now, he and the No. 4 Tide are scheduled to kick off against No. 11 Oklahoma at 3:30 p.m. ET.
