Alabama reportedly among finalists for elite 2027 cornerback

According to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett, the Alabama Crimson Tide are among the six finalists for elite 2027 cornerback John Meredith III.

Meredith's six finalists are Alabama, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, and Texas A&M, according to Fawcett. A potential commitment date is not currently set for Meredith.

The Alabama target is currently considered as the nation's No. 2 overall recruit in the 2027 recruiting class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 1 cornerback nationally. A five-star prospect, Meredith is also the No. 2 prospect in the state of Texas where he attends North Crowley High School.

Alabama currently has three players committed as part of their 2027 recruiting class, none of which are considered as five-star prospects, per 247Sports. One of those three is also a cornerback in three-star Nash Johnson III.
