According to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, the Alabama Crimson Tide have reportedly landed a significant commitment from 2028 quarterback Kingston Preyear.

An in-state prospect for the Crimson Tide, Preyear is Alabama‘s fifth commitment of the 2028 cycle, as well as the second quarterback alongside three-star Charles Scott Jr. out of Huguenot (Virginia).

Alabama was previously announced as a finalist for Preyear’s commitment, joined by both Florida and Vanderbilt.

Now the highest-rated prospect in Alabama’s class, Preyear is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 44 overall player in the 2028 cycle, as well as the No. 4 quarterback nationally, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. Preyear, who is a four-star recruit, also ranks as the No. 3 player in the state of Alabama where he attends Benjamin Russell High School, the same program as current Crimson Tide freshman receiver Cederian Morgan.

Following the decision from Preyear, Alabama’s 2028 class ranks No. 1 nationally, per 247Sports, with five commits. Two of those five are from in-state via Preyear and recent linebacker commit Ryquan Butler.
