Alabama’s fans feel they were “robbed” by the referees during Saturday night’s loss to Georgia at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
Paul Finebaum agrees.
The Voice of the SEC believes that a massive pass interference penalty was missed by the refs late in Alabama’s 20-17 loss to Georgia.
“I know people say you’re SEC honks and you’re never going to criticize the officials,” Finebaum told Matt Barrie. “Well, I’m not going to stand in the way of telling the truth. In my mind an absolutely terrible call. I would like the SEC office when the sun comes up Monday morning to try and explain it.
“They tried on TV. At first, it was awkward, then they got around to telling – what I think everybody in America knew – it was pass inteference.”
Georgia’s KJ Bolden appeared to get away with a blatant pass interference penalty on a pass attempt from Alabama’s Keelon Russell to Rico Scott.

Finebaum thinks it would’ve changed the game.
“Yeah, I don’t think there is any question it would have,” Finebaum said. “It was a terrible call where you’re the best conference in college football. Don’t screw around with one of the biggest plays in the biggest game of the year.
“That’s supposed to be the ‘A’ crew. Act like an ‘A’ crew and don’t blow calls that could very well determine the outcome of the game.”
Alabama’s students are calling out the refs now, too
Alabama’s students are taking to Instagram to suggest that the refs ruined their night.
“@ refs let’s have a chat,” one student wrote on Instagram.
Another added: “why did yall have to lose when i had the outfit on. 🙄🙄.”
“Caption!” one added.
Ultimately, bad calls happen every game, but this is one that is probably going to take a while to get over, at least for Alabama.
