Following a home win over LSU that extended the program’s current winning streak to eight-straight, the Alabama Crimson Tide‘s spot in the latest College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings has been revealed.
Released on Tuesday night, the Crimson Tide came in at No. 4 in the latest CFP rankings. Last week, Alabama was ranked also ranked as the nation’s No. 4 team by the committee entering a Week 11 home showdown with LSU, a game which the Crimson Tide won against the unranked Tigers, 20-9.
Should the CFP begin today, Alabama would be slotted into the bracket as the No. 4 seed, receiving a first round bye. Alabama would then face the winner of No. 5 Georgia vs. No. 12 South Florida in the CFP quarterfinals.
With the win, Alabama’s record now sits at 8-1 overall (6-0 SEC) for the season ahead of a massive SEC showdown with Oklahoma on Saturday in Tuscaloosa. A game with high CFP stakes attached, the Sooners own a 7-2 overall record (3-2 SEC), and were ranked by the committee as the nation’s No. 11 team Tuesday night coming out of a bye week.
Oklahoma is the lone remaining regular season opponent on Alabama’s schedule currently ranked in the latest CFP rankings. Alabama also owns victories this season over three teams who are currently ranked, per the CFP rankings, which are No. 5 Georgia, No. 14 Vanderbilt, and No. 23 Tennessee.
Kickoff between the Crimson Tide and Sooners is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC this Saturday from Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
