Following a Week 12 loss against the Oklahoma Sooners, the Alabama Crimson Tide‘s standing in the latest College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings has been officially revealed.
Released on Tuesday night, Alabama came in ranked as the nation’s No. 10 team, per the latest CFP rankings. The Crimson Tide dropped six spots as a result of their Week 12 home loss to Oklahoma, with the Sooners now sitting just ahead of Alabama at No. 8.
Alabama fell to the Sooners, 23-21, on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, and the result is now the Crimson Tide’s second loss of the season, as well as the lone defeat to a team currently in the CFP Top 25. The Crimson Tide (8-2 overall, 6-1 SEC) also own victories over four teams who are currently in the CFP Top 25 rankings, which are No. 4 Georgia, No. 14 Vanderbilt, No. 20 Tennessee, and No. 22 Missouri.
Should the season end today, Alabama would be in the CFP field as the No. 10 seed. As the No. 10 seed, Alabama would travel to face No. 7 seeded Oregon in the first round.
Alabama will return to action this upcoming Saturday, Nov. 22, in Tuscaloosa against Eastern Illinois, with kickoff set for 2 p.m. ET on SEC Network+. Following the game Saturday, Alabama will then conclude the regular season on the road at Auburn in Week 14 for a must-win Iron Bowl.
