The The No. 6 Alabama Crimson Tide is set to take on the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, in what might be the biggest matchup of the college football season. However, the Crimson Tide’s backup tight end Josh Ford has been dealing with a broken arm he suffered in the program’s 56-23 Week 5 win over the No. 17 Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Hours before kicking off against Georgia, reports indicate that the junior tight end is going to play through the injury on Saturday, according to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports. How big of a role he plays is currently unknown, but it doesn’t appear the broken arm is going to keep Ford from helping Alabama face off against a tough Bulldogs team.

“NEW: Alabama TE Josh Ford is set to give it a go against Georgia after breaking his arm against Mississippi State, Pete Nakos reports,” On3 Sports said on X. “Ford had surgery on Sunday.”

Head coach Kalen DeBoer mainly relies on Ford to help with blocking, as the transfer tight end has only accumulated one reception for three yards and a touchdown through five games this season. So, Ford is likely to jus wrap his arm up in a sort of club, and be utilized more as an extra offensive lineman for the Alabama offense.

Josh Ford is in his third year of college football. His first two seasons were with the Oklahoma State Cowboys, where he also served as a blocking tight end. He hit the transfer portal and signed with Alabama in the offseason leading up to the 2026-27 campaign.
