Ryan Williams and the No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide moved on to the College Football Playoff quarterfinals after a first-round win on the road over the No. 8 seed Oklahoma Sooners. However, Alabama’s season didn’t last much longer, falling to Heisman Trophy-winner Fernando Mendoza and the No. 1 seed Indiana Hoosiers 38-3 in the Rose Bowl.
Despite the loss, Williams was one of Kalen DeBoer’s top performers in the Rose Bowl, recording six catches for 53 yards. Still, the sophomore wide receiver out of Mobile, Alabama, saw his production dip from his first season to his second, finishing 2025 with 49 catches for 689 yards and four touchdowns.
But while Alabama has fallen short of its postseason expectations over the past two years, Williams has indicated he plans to return to Tuscaloosa for his junior season:
“I’m Alabama through and through,” he told AL.com. “I have no intentions of being anywhere else”
While Williams is expected to return to Alabama, another wideout will not. And on Saturday, sophomore Cole Adams, who tallied five catches for 71 yards and a touchdown in 2025, elected to enter the transfer portal after three years in Tuscaloosa.
“Alabama WR Cole Adams is entering the transfer portal, Pete Nakos reports,” On3’s Transfer Portal wrote on Instagram.
Adams’ decision appeared not to sit well with Williams, who reacted to the news with two sad emojis, reposting the announcement on his Instagram Story: “

Along with Adams, Alabama defensive back Domani Jackson also announced his intentions to enter the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday, to which Williams responded with two “fingers crossed” emojis.
