Alex Golesh, Auburn Predicted to Land 4-Star College Football Transfer Portal Prospect

The Alex Golesh era for the Auburn Tigers is officially underway. The Tigers have signed 24 prospects from the transfer portal so far.

That was essential, as they lost 36 players to the transfer portal, including standout wide receivers Cam Coleman, Malcolm Simmons and Eric Singleton Jr. They also lost their top three quarterbacks to the portal: Jackson Arnold, Deuce Knight and Ashton Daniels.

Golesh is starting his first year as head coach after taking over for Hugh Freeze, who was fired at the end of the season. He joins Auburn following a successful tenure with the South Florida Bulls. Additionally, he is on track to acquire one of the top available players in the transfer portal, former Michigan State Spartans running back Makhi Frazier. On3 places the Tigers with a 52.1% chance of landing Frazier, ahead of the Penn State Nittany Lions’ 45.6% chance.

Frazier is ranked as a four-star prospect in the transfer portal, placing him as the 13th-best player available. He is coming off his best season, during which he rushed for 520 yards and scored two touchdowns. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

If Auburn secures Frazier, it would immediately help stabilize an offense that underwent massive turnover this offseason. With proven production and two years of eligibility remaining, Frazier would give Golesh a reliable back to build around as the Tigers install a new offensive identity in Year 1 of the regime.

The move would also signal Auburn’s intent to prioritize balance after losing its entire quarterback room and multiple playmakers at wide receiver. Adding a proven runner could ease pressure on whoever emerges at quarterback, while also fitting Golesh’s history of emphasizing tempo and efficiency on offense.

With the transfer portal window closing soon, Auburn’s focus will shift from roster construction to cohesion. Whether Frazier becomes part of that equation could shape expectations for the Tigers heading into spring practice as Golesh looks to lay the foundation for long-term success on the Plains.
