All-SEC Georgia specialist announces future plans

The Georgia Bulldogs will be returning one of their top special teams players for the 2026 college football season. Kicker Peyton Woodring announced via social media that he will be back for his senior year in Athens.

Woodring was a second-team All-SEC pick for his outstanding 2025 season. The talented kicker made 17 of his 19 field goal attempts including several clutch kicks against Tennessee. Woodring went eight of 10 on kicks of 40 or more yards in 2025 and is a true weapon for the Georgia offense. Unfortunately, his did miss one kick in Georgia’s Sugar Bowl loss to Ole Miss.

Quarterback Gunner Stockton is expected to be Woording’s holder in 2026. Georgia long snapper Beau Gardner, wide receiver Cole Speer and punter Brett Thorson are all out of eligibility, so Georgia will have to replace several key special teams players.

Woodring’s return means that Georgia will have a kicker they can count on in 2026, which makes field goals far less stressful for UGA fans and the Georgia coaching staff. Woodring did have a legitimate opportunity to enter the 2026 NFL draft or even the transfer portal, but with the way NFL kickers have been performing, we think it is the right call for Woodring to return to school.

“No place I’d rather be!!” Woodring said. “Ready to get back to work… Go Dawgs!”
