Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets quarterback Aaron Philo intends to transfer. Philo is the all-time career leading passer in Georgia high school history. He passed for 13,922 yards during his high school career from 2020-2023 with Prince Avenue Christian. Philo also had the third-most career passing touchdowns (159) in Georgia high school history behind Trevor Lawrence (161) and Gunner Stockton (177).
Philo’s likely transfer is a big blow to Georgia Tech’s 2026 season. The Yellow Jackets are losing starting quarterback Haynes King, who is out of eligibility. Philo was expected to replace King.
Now, Georgia Tech will have to look to acquire a quarterback via the transfer portal or start someone else on their roster. The Yellow Jackets, like the rest of college football, are trying to retain their roster, but it is easier said than done.
Philo passed for 373 yards, one touchdown and one interception during the 2025 college football season. His potential transfer is music to the ears of Georgia Bulldogs fans. Georgia Tech has closed the gap on the in-state rival Bulldogs a bit in recent years, but the Yellow Jackets appear to be in for some offseason chaos after having some recent success.
The Yellow Jackets already lost offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner to the Florida Gators, who are a likely destination for Philo. Florida is expected to lose starting quarterback DJ Lagway to the transfer portal.
