Allegheny football 2-0 for first time in 16 years

The Allegheny football team improved to 2-0 with its 27-0 win over Juniata in the Gators home opener Sept. 12. It's the first 2-0 start for the program since 2010.

Allegheny finished with 396 yards of total offense with three touchdowns. Junior quarterback Carson Colluci threw all three touchdowns with 22 completions and 254 yards. His three passing touchdowns were a single-game career high.

Freshman running back David Moore had 15 carries for 98 yards. Sophomore receiver Remington Rossow had seven catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Junior receiver Micah Smith had two catches for 84 yards and one touchdown.

The Gators last started a season 2-0 in 2010 after two wins against Bethany and Carnegie Mellon.

Head coach Braden Layer was proud of his team's production in the Week 2 victory.

"(I'm) proud of the guys and their ability to play a more complete and cleaner 60 minutes than we did in Week 1," he said. "We will enjoy it for one day then the focus is on Waynesburg for homecoming."

Allegheny will host the Yellowjackets on Saturday at 7 p.m.
