MADISON – Last month standout linebacker Keaton Wollan committed to Iowa State.
Recruits, however, sometimes have a change of heart and this time it worked to the Wisconsin Badgers' benefit.
Wollan, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound all-state performer from Amery High School in northwestern Wisconsin, announced his cmmitment to the Badgers May 13. He is the ninth in-state recruit in UW's 2027 class and the 13th commit overall. He is also the first inside linebacker.
The consensus three-star recruit had offers from Texas Tech, North Dakota State and Eastern Michigan in addition to UW and Iowa State.
He announced his decision on X and Instagram.
"Staying Home!", he wrote followed by a Badger emoji.

Wollan was a first-team all-state selection by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association, but he put up impressive statistics in all three phases of the game for Amery, which finished 4-6 and lost in the first round of the WIAA playoffs.
Defense: He made 125 tackles that included 108 solo stops, nine tackles for a loss and 1½ sacks. He also forced four fumbles, made three fumble recoveries and intercepted three passes.
Offense: He rushed 160 times for 932 yards, a 5.8-yard average, with eight touchdowns. He also made 15 catches for 179 yards, an 11.9 yards average.
Special teams: He returned punts and kickoffs. He averaged 21 yards in six punt returns and 27.5 yards in 14 kickoff returns that included an 83-yard return.
With the addition of Wollan, Wisconsin recruiting class ranked No. 15 by 247sports and No. 21 by Rivals/On3.
