With the Pittsburgh Steelers and Joey Porter Jr. saga ongoing with no clear end in sight, the Steelers scouting department have been doing their due diligence on a couple of top 100 cornerbacks, along with many other prospects at various positions ahead of the 2027 NFL Draft.
Let’s take a closer look at them.
Brice Pollock, 21, is a cornerback for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The 6-feet, 195 pound senior who attended Shiloh High School in Snellville, Georgia committed to Mississippi State in 2023. As a freshman, Pollock started three of 11 games and recorded 24 tackles (13 solo, and 11 assisted), and one pass defensed.
As a junior in 2024, he started in all 12 games, where he had 48 tackles (24 solo, and 24 assisted), one interception, one forced fumble, and seven passes defensed.
After his junior season, Pollock entered the transfer portal and transferred to Texas Tech University, and was a starter for the 2025 season, in which he recorded 48 tackles (30 solo, and 18 assisted), five interceptions, one fumble recovery, and seven passes defensed, picking up a First-team All-Big 12 honor in the process.
In the first three games of the 2026 season, Pollock has recorded seven solo tackles and four passes defensed.
Chris Peal, 21, is a cornerback for the Syracuse Orange. The 6-foot-1, 200 pound junior attended Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina. After high school, he committed to University of Georgia, and as a Bulldog he played in five games in 2023 and 2024, in which he recorded two tackles.
After the 2024 season, Peal entered the transfer portal, and transferred to Syracuse University, and in 2025 he started all 12 games, in which he recorded 43 tackles (29 solo, and 14 assisted), one forced fumble, and seven passes defensed.
In the first three games of the 2026 season, Peal has recorded nine solo tackles, and two passes defensed.
