One of Michigan football’s most dynamic offensive talents is set to return to Ann Arbor.
Wide receiver Andrew Marsh, who just finished a breakout freshman season, will return to the Wolverines in 2026. Marsh was U-M’s top wideout in his first collegiate season, leading the team in receptions (45), yards (651) and touchdowns (four). The former four-star recruit from Katy, Texas, also had two rushes (including a 23-yard touchdown against Central Michigan in September).
The decision was originally reported by The Michigan Insider and confirmed by the Free Press.
He put up these impressive numbers despite only recording one catch in September and not starting until October, as he worked his way up the depth chart. Marsh had an impressive game in that first start, catching four passes for 80 yards against Wisconsin, then truly broke out with eight receptions for 138 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown catch-and-run in a road loss to USC.
Marsh had at least three receptions in every other game and at least 49 yards in all but two games. He had the best game of any first-year wideout in program history against Northwestern, recording 12 receptions for 189 yards. In that game, he made a key 21-yard reception on third-and-10 to set up the game-winning field goal.
Marsh led the Big Ten over his final seven weeks with 611 receiving yards and three touchdowns, catching 45 of 51 targets. He finished the season third in receptions and receiving yards and fourth in targets and first downs among all Power Four freshmen.
Marsh also contributed on special teams, taking over as lead returner in mid-November. He was dynamic in the Wolverines’ Citrus Bowl loss to Texas last month, when he piled up a season-high 155 return yards.
The Wolverines have prioritized keeping their own talent ahead of getting additions from the transfer portal. This is the fourth major retainment, following those of offensive linemen Blake Frazier and Andrew Babalola and quarterback Bryce Underwood.
