Ohio State is seemingly in the mix for every recruit who has four or five stars next to their name. They may not land them all, but they are in the final four or five of what feels like every recruit in the country.
It isn't all that shocking from a historical perspective, but in recent history there has been a very clear adjustment in the way that Ryan Day has recruited his program. With the almighty dollar putting its thumb on the scale, the Buckeyes have admittedly had to be pickier and choosier for their recruits.
The result, you'd think, would be them not being involved in as many of the top recruits, but the Buckeyes are always there. The next domino that is set to fall comes from Northeast Ohio.
Brayton Feister is the newest member of the historic Washington Massillon Tigers, who are set to make a run at the Ohio State Championship in 2026. Feister spent his first three seasons at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio. Hoban, a powerhouse themselves, was dethroned by their rival Walsh Jesuit last season, and with that loss, Feister and his younger brother Brydon Feister, who is a three-star recruit himself.
Brayton enters his final season in high school as a four-star recruit, and the Buckeyes are still squarely in the mix. Feister is the top uncommitted recruit for the 2027 class, but that is set to end on Friday.
Feister will join the Pat McAfee show and make his selection in front of the tens of thousands who will be watching live and the millions who will see the pick.
He is selecting between Oregon, Georgia, California and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The chances for Ohio State are surprisingly a long shot. As it stands right now, the scales are tipped heavily in favor of the Oregon Ducks, as according to 247 Sports, he has a 94 percent chance of landing in Oregon.
All 247 and On3 experts have crystal-balled him to the Ducks with varying degrees of confidence.
That said, the scarlet and gray can do something powerful to a kid from Ohio. Just about every single boy grows up dreaming about playing inside Ohio Stadium with the Buckeye stickers on their helmet in the Scarlet tops and the gray pants.
Is that idea enough to flip the young star linebacker? We will know Friday afternoon as the commitment becomes official then.
