AP Top 25 College Football Poll: BYU breaks into top 10 after win over CSU

The BYU Cougars (3-0) took care of business with the first road win of the 2026 season. Kalani Sitake's team rolled to a 41-23 win over Colorado State. The victory pushed the Cougars up two spots in the latest AP Top 25 Poll to No. 9.

For the first time all season, BYU broke into the top 10 this season and is still the highest-ranked Big 12 team with Texas Tech occupying the Cougars' old spot at No. 11. As for the rest of the conference, Utah slid up to No. 15 after a 33-0 win over Utah State and Houston tumbled to No. 25 after a close loss to Texas Tech.

College Football Week 3: Rebels shine, Aggies Tumble, Gators are back

A big weekend around the country with Ole Miss moving up to No. 4 after pulling off the 32-24 upset over LSU. The Rebels held off Lane Kiffin and the Tigers in his highly anticipated homecoming to Oxford. LSU at No. 10 is generous. No. 21 Florida re-entered the poll for the first time under new head coach Jon Sumrall. The Gators are 3-0 for the first time since 2019. The Southeastern Conference had 10 ranked teams this week.

However, Texas A&M took the biggest fall, going from No. 9 to No. 23 after its 31-21 home loss to unranked Kentucky. Louisville was the biggest gainer, rising seven spots to No. 16 after its 41-31 victory over SMU.

The top of the rankings when unaltered. Texas was No. 1 for the second straight week, followed by Georgia and Notre Dame to round out the top three.

Week 4 offers a loaded slate of good competition in several key games

No. 1 Texas travels to No. 14 Tennessee for an SEC matchup. Kyle Whittingham and No. 18 Michigan face No. 17 Iowa to fight for a Big Ten frontrunner spot. No. 4 Ole Miss visits Gainesville to face No. 21 Florida. No. 23 Texas A&M takes on No. 10 LSU in a matchup between two SEC teams desperate to win following tough losses. No. 20 Oregon can regain some strength with a win over No. 12 USC.

BYU will enter a bye week before facing TCU in Fort Worth on Oct. 3.
