AP Top 25 Poll: After Week 2

Week 2 of the new college football season featured probably the biggest matchup of the young season so far with the Ohio State-Texas clash that did live up to expectations by the end. On the other hand, there wasn’t any truly “WTF” moments quite like the Michigan-Western Michigan ending from Week 1. From a UNC perspective, the week was relatively uneventful as the Tar Heels handled business without issue against East Tennessee State.
With the week now fully in the book, it’s time for our weekly look at where the football Top 25 poll ended up. Here’s how it shook out on Sunday.

Where is UNC?
In the AP Poll, the Tar Heels are not ranked, nor have they received any votes even. I thought a 2-0 start combined with the general storyline of being coached by Bill Belichick might get someone to, but it’s more than fair to still be skeptical at this point. UNC did get Coaches Poll votes after the TCU win, but that wasn’t the case this time around.
Biggest Winners
Following their remarkable comeback win over previous #1 Ohio State, we have a new team at the top in Texas. Unsurprisingly, the Longhorns ascended to #1 after a fairly surprising rally. In terms of numbers of spots, this week’s winner is Michigan. After their asterisk adorned Week 1 win over Western Michigan, the Wolverines dropped out of the poll. However, they’re back now and up to #19 after beating Oklahoma.
Biggest Losers
On the other side of Michigan-Oklahoma, the Sooners dropped 13 places, however that somehow wasn’t the biggest fall of the week. After struggling a bit with Boise State in their opener, Oregon lost to an Oklahoma State team who themselves had lost to Tulsa. As a result, the Ducks didn’t completely drop out of the rankings, although they are down 15 spots to #21.
