The Texas Longhorns and quarterback Arch Manning aren’t entering this season with the same amount of hype as last year, when they were expected by many fans and pundits to be one of the most dominant teams in college football history behind the dynamic talent of Arch Manning.

However, although he improved throughout the season, Manning showed in his first full season as a starter last year that he still had a ways to go in his development before he could be considered “generational” at the quarterback position.

Manning is now gearing up for his senior season, and despite his improvement, one analyst and pundit needs to see more from Arch before declaring him the top quarterback in the SEC, ranking him second instead.

At number 2, Texas quarterback Arch Manning has the most talent out of any quarterback in the country,” said an analyst for AtoZ Sports.

“He is incredibly physically gifted, and he showed at end of the year what he’s capable of. He still threw for 3,100 yards and 26 touchdowns with 7 picks, with 399 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns despite a bit of a slow start.”

Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss took the top spot.

“At number 1, we got to go with Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. There should be no debate here for the way that he was able to boost Ole Miss during their playoff run, and he should have that same impact this upcoming year. He was the number 2 quarterback in EPA per dropback and number 1 in total EPA in the SEC in 2025, throwing for 3,900 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 3 picks with 527 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns.”

It’ll be interesting to see how the rankings hold up once the season gets underway. It’s hard to imagine Manning not putting it all together and setting himself apart from the rest of the pack as the best quarterback in college this season.
