Area players named to Academic All-Ohio football team

COLUMBUS — Not only did area high school football players get it done on the field, but they also got it done in the classroom.
There were 106 high school football teams and 273 players from around the state selected to the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association Academic All-Ohio Football Team.
The Bloom-Carroll football team was honored, along with five of its players. During head coach Jeremy McKinney’s four-year tenure as coach of the Bulldogs, the Bloom-Carroll football team has been selected.
The Bulldogs’ five players who received Academic All-Ohio honors are led by senior linebacker Aidan Scholz, who also earned first-team All-Ohio honors by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association and was the 2025 Eagle-Gazette Defensive Player of the Year.
Under McKinney, 13 players have earned All-Ohio Academic honors, including five who also received first team All-Ohio honors by the OPSMA.
Joining Scholz on the Academic All-Ohio Football team are teammates Warren Rawlins, Zach Chambers, Lunden Dodds and Lincoln Miller.
Berne Union’s Dylan Finefrock and Fairfield Union’s Grant McPherson were also chosen to the Academic All-Ohio Football team.
To qualify as an individual, nominees have to be seniors, be first team all-district, or first team all-conference, or first team All-Area and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.60. High school principal verification is required.
