Another visitor to Tucson from last weekend liked what he saw. On Tuesday, 3-star Texas defensive lineman Ahzan Bacote announced his commitment to the Wildcats, fresh off an official visit.

Bacote, who plays for Cornerstone Christian School in San Antonio, has pretty decent size at 6-foot-2 and 270 pounds. He has a very similar build to Arizona defensive lineman Mays Pese. What’s more, Bacote has been wildly productive on the field. As a junior, he racked up 40 tackles, 20 of those for a loss, 12 sacks and 4 QB hurries. In the eight games a he played as a freshman and sophomore, Bacote combined for 16 tackles, 3 TFLs, 2 sacks, 2 QB hurries and a forced fumble. Bacote is also a multi-sport athlete, competing in both shot put and wrestling.

Bacote boasts 31 offers from the Trail. He chose Arizona over Arizona State, Baylor, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Miami (FL), Mississippi State, TCU, Texas Tech, Utah and Wake Forest to name some of his suitors.

He is ranked as a 3-star by 247Sporst in both of their ranking systems. Internally, they have him as the No. 101 defensive lineman and the No. 118 player in Texas. In the Composite, Bacote comes in as the No. 852 player nationally, the No. 96 DL and the 113th best player in Texas.

Bacote is the third recruit who took an official visit to Tucson last weekend that has since committed, joining defensive backs Jaylen Oliver and Luke Stevens. All three are from Texas, where four of the Wildcats’ seven commits from 2027 hail.
