Arizona State football ranked in early Top 25 college football ranking

Is the Arizona State football team a Top 25 team in 2026?

One site thinks so.

ESPN released its early Top 25 for the 2026 college football season and Kenny Dillingham’s football team comes in at No. 23.

Mark Schlabach writes: “The Sun Devils are undergoing a transformation after their star quarterback, tailback, receiver and four of the top five tacklers left. But coach Kenny Dillingham did a nice job rebuilding his two-deep through the transfer portal. Boley played pretty well as a first-time starter at Kentucky this past season, and Miller, Harris and Vines-Bright were three of the top receivers available. Two FCS running backs, Marquis Gillis from Delaware State and David Avit from Villanova, might be sneaky-good additions. Arizona State plays at Texas A&M, Arizona, BYU and Texas Tech this coming season.”

The Sun Devils are among five Big 12 teams in the early Top 25.

Texas Tech is at No. 7, BYU is at No. 11, TCU is at No. 20 and Utah is No. 25.

Defending national champion Indiana is ranked No. 1, with Texas No. 2,  Notre Dame No. 3, Georgia No. 4 and Oregon No. 5.

ASU football didn’t appear in several other early Top 25 lists, although CBS did list the Sun Devils among six “others considered” teams in its ranking.

The Sun Devils are scheduled to open the season hosting Morgan State on Sept. 5.

Kenny Dillingham's ASU football team is ranked in one way-too-early college football Top 25 for next season.
